Attention building skills for individuals with:

  • Autism
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
  • ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • ODD – Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Aspbergers
  • Learning Disabilities

Carolyn helps children and adults build attention skills utilizing the following methods:

Therapeutic Listening:
Listening to specially formatted music can improve brain function. This improves motor skills, speech and language skills, self care, sequencing, auditory processing and academic performance. Learn more: http://vitallinks.net

Interactive Metronome:
synchronizing hand and foot movements to an auditory input from the computer has demonstrated improvement in academic and athletic abilities for children and adults. IM has been shown to improve Attention and Concentration, Motor Control and Coordination, Cognitive Processing, Reading and Math Fluency, Control of Aggression/Impulsivity. Professional athletes have shown improvements in golf, baseball, soccer and dance. Learn more: interactivemetronome.com

Sensory Integration Assessment and Treatment:
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a complex disorder of the brain that may affect 5-16% of children. Sensory processing refers to the way the central nervous system receives messages from the senses and turns them into responses. For those with Sensory Processing Disorder, sensory information goes into the brain but does not get organized into “appropriate” responses resulting in challenges with self care activities, movement or eye hand coordination, behavior and social interactions. Therapy utilizes activities designed to improve registration, processing and output of sensory information by the nervous system. Treatment improves the ability to participate at home, in school and in the community. Learn more: sensory-processing-disorder.com or spdfoundation.net

Neurolink’s®Neurological Integration System (NIS):
NIS identifies underlying causes of symptoms and supports neurological organization to improve learning (connecting all parts of the brain so that the cortical centers are “talking” to each other). Learn more: neurolinkglobal.com

Skills are also developed using Reflex Integration treatments.
